Durham City Goods

My sister asked me to photograph her products for her new company, Durham City Goods, so that she can use the photos on her new website, when she gets it up and running. We had one photo shoot over MLK weekend, after I returned from my trip up to D.C. It was a good first take, but we'll need to shoot again to solidify some shots that were too blurry or not the right light/composition. I wanted to post some of the pictures that we took during that first round, but I wanted to get her approval first (since they are her products). She gave me the go ahead, so here they are! Right now, you can purchase them at the Ox and Rabbit in Durham (where we both work). Soon though, you'll hopefully be able to purchase them through her website, which I will post on here when it happens!

I have a wide selection of these products in my own apartment, and I highly suggest that you add some items to your collection too, if you have not already!! I'm really proud of my sister!!!

(Just a reminder: You can always click on the photographs to see them larger, if you would like.)

Shirts, mugs, stickers and more to come...

(P.S.--If you'd like to buy any of these in the meantime, feel free to contact me, and I'll work something out with you!)

If only...

If only I could expend the amount of energy that I do for teaching and educating my students (who don't always appreciate it, nor do their parents) in other areas of my life, like photography, writing, drawing, and creating. If only there were more hours in the day and more days that weren't spent at "work."

My first two photo shoots!

This past weekend I had my first two requested photo shoots: one for my friend Julie's baby, Dane, and one for my sister's new company, Durham City Goods. I will post pictures soon, but I had to share the news because I am so excited about it! I hope this will be the start of a creative future with photography. :) Here are some photos I took around the house to satiate your blog appetite until I get the Baby Dane and DCG photos uploaded.

Happy 2010!

I can't even explain to you how elated I am that I got to spend New Year's Eve in Miami with close, wonderful friends! It was a short but perfect trip filled with extensive amounts of laughter and dancing. There is a high possibility that there may have been extensive amounts of drinking as well. You may be able to tell from the pictures below that we had quite a marvelous time getting dolled up and sufficiently partying for two fantastic nights--one out on the town in Miami at club LIV and NYE night at Nora and Julio's house.

Our generous hosts, Nora and Julio--aren't they just too cute?!

We all stayed at Nora and Julio's house during the three days of festivities! (6 guests, one guest bedroom, one air mattress, and two couches)

me, Ann, and Tara--the single ladies

That's Kat in the background. She's hilarious. In the foreground, it's the three high school girls (or should I say middle school girls?!) reunited again, for the 3rd time this year!

Nora, Ann, Tara, and me

CHEEEEEESE!

Tara and Ann demonstrating their love for each other...

Nora and me

I'm not sure where that fog is coming from. Lean in ladies!

Kat's husband Mark, Kat, and Julio

Kat's feet weren't made for walking (in high heels).

Self-photo--gotta love the up-close and personal ones!

me, Julio, and Tara

Ahh, the girls relaxing at the end of the night before heading back to the cars (and eating way too much late night pizza!).

NYE--getting ready for another night of partying!

Tara, Baxter, Kat, and Mark...a nice "family" photo for next Christmas...

Ann, Julio's best friend Chris, and Nora

Ann getting ready to serve her infamous jello shots...they were dangerous!

Tara and Nora with their party hats on...

Unfortunately, I did not have my camera attached to my hip this night, like I normally do, so I don't have as many pictures as I normally would. However, I might post a few more funny pictures when Nora, Tara, and Kat email their pictures my way. They'll probably complain that I'm not on Facebook, but they'll just have to get over it. :)

It's going to be a great year. 2010, here I come!
