A Halloween Surprise...

Tomorrow is Halloween. What are you going to do? Pass out candy? Dress up? At school, we celebrate Halloween the Friday before the weekend, if it falls over the weekend. Friday my students had the opportunity to dress up as a character from a book and present their character to the class Friday afternoon. (It's a great opportunity for them to practice giving oral presentations, and it also means they can't come to school dressed up like Freddy, etc.) I did not dress up this year, but the students immediately wanted to know what character I had dressed up as when they walked into the classroom at 8:30am. Initially, I told them that I had dressed up as their teacher. After much pestering and (of course) wild behavior on their part, I decided to tell them that I had dressed up as "Death." They don't really know about personification of inanimate objects like "death," but some of them quickly made a connection to the 7th Harry Potter book (which I can hardly admit that I have not read yet) where there is a character named Death. Perfect! Luckily I was dressed in all black, so that I could fully "embody" the part (ha ha), and since "Death" is a rather scary character, the children were fairly well-behaved for the rest of the day. Double bonus!

The school year has kept me intensely busy. I have also just moved, as of October 9th, and am finally getting settled in my new place. For the first time ever, I was completely unpacked (with all my pictures hung) before a week had passed in my new place. It was a miracle...and really nice to have it done so quickly. I am hoping that I'll have more time to update my blog now that I have internet at home. However, I haven't had much of an opportunity to take pictures. I did take pictures for a friend's wedding a few weeks back and am now working on editing those. I'm hoping to post some of those to my photography website (www.lb3photo.blogspot.com) when I finish editing them.

I do have some photos to share with you. I received the most beautiful bouquet of flowers this week and wanted to share the loveliness of them with all of you. Here they are...

Happy Halloween! xoxo
