You may have noticed that I have changed my layout and blog title. Over the next year I am going to try to incorporate photos and writing in a different style than previously. At this point, I'm not sure how it will turn out or what will change, but I think it's good to spice things up and try new things. Going on a cross country trip for a month has had many positive influences on me; somewhat changed and added to my perspective of myself and the world around me; and has inspired me to do things that I have wanted to do for a long time (and things I haven't really wanted to learn to do...like cooking). It was a month filled with great joy (and a plethora of time in the car)!
This is one new thing I have tried so far:
Jenn wanted to make dinner our first night in Chicago. If you are familiar with my inability to cook, then you will appreciate these two photos as much as I do. Jenn decided she HAD to take a picture of me mincing the garlic because it's so unusual for me to be assisting in the kitchen! (It was a true photo opportunity.) She was an excellent (and patient) teacher, and I truly applied my OCD-ness by getting the garlic as tiny as I could without using a garlic press. (To our initial dismay, the Alison and Bridget household did not include a garlic press.) My skillful handy-work turned out to be the next best thing to a garlic press!
I also had the opportunity to practice my photography skills at Alison and Chris' Couple's Shower. Alison knows how much I enjoy taking photos so it was a great opportunity for her, Chris, and her family to get a play-by-play of the night! Here are some photos of the flowers and dessert...

And as you can see by this photo and the first photo at the top (of me chopping), I have been spicing up the photos a bit with the many great features of iPhoto!
As always, I look forward to reading your comments, if you choose to make them. I will try to keep my blog as updated as my teaching schedule will allow me to this next year. :)
